Personal Training Isn't Just About Fat Loss Or Losing Weight... But I’m Bloody Good At It!
When most people think of personal training they tend to think about rapid weight loss, losing fat and dropping clothing sizes. Rightly so too. After all, most people are inspired into taking up the services of a personal trainer because, well, they're out of shape, right?
So I've built a HUGE chunk of my business around helping people to do just that. Get back into tip-top shape... and fast!
But unlike most personal training services or personal trainers, I’m not just about giving you a series of super-tough workouts, pounding you half to death and leaving you sore, stiff and hating every minute of your time with us, instead I’m about using a holistic model of result-producing systems known as The KAIZEN Principles TM.
The KAIZEN Principles are were being created by myself and my business partner Kyle Hargreaves at Billericay Personal Trainer to bring about the fastest possible results in the safest possible manner by working on the indisputable truths of exercise, nutrition and lifestyle.
One of my favorite sayings (borrowed from fat loss expert Dax Moy) is that 'methods there are many, principles but few, methods often change, principles never do' and so I created a system of principles that every client who works with me will come to learn... in great detail!
Kinetics:
Kinetics is about the body in motion and how it is affected by outside forces. The body is a work of mechanical genius and is known to us fitness professionals as the ‘kinetic chain’, a structure that is designed to perform specific movements and actions. By understanding bio-mechanics and how the kinetics of the body works, we can develop highly specific and effective exercise programmes.
Attitude:
Most people who fail do so because they choose not to succeed. It may not be a conscious choice, but not having the right attitude towards getting results can have a major impact on your ability to actually getting them.
Integrity:
Like any structure, the kinetic chain is highly dependent on integrity. The great old saying goes ‘a chain is only as strong as its weakest link’ and that is highly appropriate to the kinetic chain. Poor joint mechanics, muscle imbalance and poor neurological function can cause pain and affect performance. By understanding these principles, we can develop plans and strategies to re-build integrity throughout the kinetic chain and send results sky-high.
Zone orientated for optimal function:
Stress can affect your body in many different ways, from hormonal and chemical, to physical and emotional, different areas of the body can be affected in different ways. By identifying which areas of your lifestyle are causing dysfunction, we can develop and implement strategies to re gain balance.
Exercise and recovery:
We all know that exercise is a vital component to achieving fat loss, enhancing physical performance for sport and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Our aim is to make sure that you get the right types of exercise for your needs and that you get sufficient rest, sleep and recovery to prevent zone orientated dysfunction, kinetic chain instability, injury and overtraining.
Nutrition and water:
As we all know, you are what you eat. It’s really important in order to gain optimum function that you feed your body what it needs (and that doesn’t mean you can never have anything nice either). By following effective nutrition strategies you can cleanse your system of unwanted body fat, prevent poor health, increase your energy levels and boost your exercise performance, and all without calorie counting! Not only that, but our bodies are composed of up to 70% water and many of the water-substitutes that we drink can be more harmful to us than we realise.
Kaizen itself is the Japanese term for ‘constant gradual improvement’ and we believe that this is the key to success. Everything changes one step at a time. We recognise this and have built our system on these simple principles.
Our delivery system is unique and you won’t find another system like it in the Basildon, Billericay or Essex area. We have worked hard to provide an excellent service for our clients based on the above mentioned principles.
The system works by taking each client through a series of phases. Once they are competent with one phase, they move on to the next and so on, gradually making their training more challenging, but also keeping things varied and fun, you never know what’s around the next corner!
Everyone that comes through our door follows the same process of principles, but each in their own unique way. Each stage can be tailored to meet the needs of any client, so although you will be going through the same process and system as everyone else, your workouts will still be individual and tailored to your specific needs!
Here’s how it works, to give you an idea of what to expect:
The very first thing that everyone does is to establish what their goals are and focus on developing the right mindset and attitudes towards success. After the goal setting process they then undergo a thorough Movement and Kinetics assessment, lifestyle assessment and nutrition assessment so that we know exactly what it is you need to achieve your goals.
Phase one: corrective (Levels one – three)
This phase will take you though core activation and position sense exercises, various stretching and neurological firing exercises to help correct imbalances, zone exercises for stress management and also a specific detoxification plan to cleanse your system and begin the fat burning process.
Phase two: Movement and mobility (Levels four – six)
The second phase of the system starts developing mobility, strength and function through dynamic movement patterns, dynamic core training and bigger exercises.
Phase three: Integration (Level seven - nine)
The third phase starts to take you into circuit based workouts which are a higher intensity, making your workouts shorter, but more effective for fat burning.
Phase four and beyond…
Once you start to get to phase four and level ten, things really start to heat up, you’re your results will become more and more significant! You will be going through a variety of different training modalities, a greater range of exercises and different types of workouts. Boxing, kick boxing, kettlebell training, medicine ball training, circuit work, barbells and dumbbells, they’re all in there at various stages of the program.
As you progress, you will go through muscle toning and sculpting phases, strength training and even power and plyometric training… all with one goal in mind.

As you progress through each phase the next one will present a new challenge and as a result of this, your results will just keep coming and you’ll never get a chance to get bored!
